Ceramics Made Easy has been a labor of love resulting from over 50 years of working in the field of ceramics. Upon retiring and closing my school of clay arts, I witnessed the industry take a decline and many others closed their studios. I was greatly saddened to see a whole new generation grasping to tackle this fascinating art form without guidance.
I predicted, way back in the mid 90's, that the success of the ceramics industry would be to embrace the power of the Internet. After a few years thinking about it and seeing so many people begging for help, thoughts became action.
So many of us "old timers" are now passing on to the great ceramic shop in the sky and their knowledge is forever gone. With the help of my son, we started Ceramics Made Easy in 2005. It has been a slow growth process, especially since I am tech-NO-literate. I may be considered a wizard with ceramics, but when it comes to computers, I'm a babe in the woods.
As I began writing and posting articles on a range of topics in order to give a basic knowledge of ceramics, I began getting requests about specific topics or problems. In answering those requests, more articles evolved.
I no longer spend much time actually working with ceramics, however, the knowledge is still viable. Ceramics is based upon specific scientific premise, and though products may change, the basic premise does not. So, as you browse through the articles, let us know if we don't have what you want or need and we will try to fill the gap.
It is my heartfelt desire that visitors to this site find it useful and helpful as they explore the exciting and creative world of ceramics.
